Where I have been....
I have not been around much over the last week, but life has not been good to my family as of late. There is now light at the end of the tunnel, even if it is a tiny pin point of light. Every day that little pin point seems to get a little bit bigger. Hopefully we will be able to step out the other side sooner rather than later.
What I am referring to is that my Grandmother had a massive stroke on Sunday. Needless to say, I have been spending a lot of time at the hospital praying that she will have some kind of recovery. The doctors didn’t hold out much hope at first, but she is a strong 87 year old woman that does not give up! They didn’t think she’d be able to move her right side; now she can move her right leg a bit and turn her head to the right. They didn’t think she would be able to speak. Yesterday she answered a question with a resounding “Ya”! The Speech Pathologist asked the question again and my Grandmother answered her with another “Ya”. Not just a fluke! They don’t put patients in the “Stroke Unit” unless there is some hope of recovery. So, they had put my Grandmother in another part of the hospital. This morning they are talking about maybe moving her to the stroke unit. This gives us hope!
Today the little pin point of light is just a little bit bigger. We’ll be walking out the other end of that tunnel to be bathed in light in no time, I’m sure. One can hope!

Re: Where I have been....
Huge warm cyber huge! I know that can be meaningless.
Try this, it has been an encouragement to me.
I started reading the blog, "The Simple Wife" On January 8, 2011, as it turns out, that was the day before she had a massive stroke. Her husband took over writing her blog as a way to let her readers know what happened and what has happened since. It is an amazing journey. I am praying for you to be filled with hope and the strength that believers in the Son of God have from joy during a time when you need someone else to carry you. Life changes in the blink of an eye but we who believe are never forsaken, we just learn to be flexible (sometimes kicking and screaming while on a path of tears).
Hoping the best for you and grandma!

Re: Where I have been....
I am so glad to hear she is improving, it can be difficult for the whole family to go through this.

Sending a big hug for you and your Grandmother.
I know strokes are scary happenings.
With hope and positive thoughts and lots of work and faith, she can overcome this debillitation.
Good luck.

Re: Where I have been....
My dear Blackrose, my thoughts and prayers are with your grandmother and with you. She sounds like a tough lady. Hang in there, and remember that it is not selfish to take some time out for yourself during such a difficult period--you can't give your best without being your best.
Re: Where I have been....
Thank you all for your thoughts and prayers. We got some good news today. She has been moved to the Stroke Unit. She will now have an expert Stroke Team watching over her and helping with her recovery. We are so blessed to have this happen. Now that she is on the mend and has such great people looking after her, I feel more comfortable not being there all day every day.
Thank you again!
Thank you again!

My prayers are with you and your family also. Last year when my mom had such difficulties my forum friends, though sight-unseen, were always encouraging & helped me a lot.
