Started the garden last night!
I started 3 plants of Cabbage last night. Having been at gardening for over 40 years now - since I was just a wee bit of a guy - I have quite an array of equipment. I have a heating pad with a domed container that gets them to germinate with pretty good success rates, I have a double hung grow lab that my wife and son bought me one Christmas and I have an array of various sizes of greenhouses and protective covers to harden them off before planting in the garden.
I love starting my own seeds but sometimes, the results aren't all that. I just accept fate and augment with purchases from my two favorite garden houses. Most times I do ok and that is the thrill of it. Seeing them grow all the way just gives me a sense of accomplishment. It's worth the try if you can accept a moderate amount of failure. Afterall, they are just vegetables.
But, on I trudge in my 41st year of gardening and about my 16th in Square footing.

It sounds like you've made your start.
I'm still counting the days to start my Broccoli and Cabbages. I'm getting antsy but you folks in the south can start earlier than we in the north.
Good Luck with your 3 babies.
