Re: when will scheduled chats begin again
It has been discussed, just not quite there yet as we've been involved with a few other projects. Any topics you'd like to see for scheduled chat?
Re: when will scheduled chats begin again
Proper square foot vegetable garden planning and timing. would be good chat topic!

That will be difficult ribsy...since there isn't a "proper" way. There is Mel's reccommended way and then his blessing if we choose to try something different.
Mel himself says all it needs to be a SFG is a grid.....so that would kinda be a short lived convo....
"Proper" SFG = Grid.
What else would you like to talk about?

Re: when will scheduled chats begin again
I do think planning and timing are good ideas for discussion, especially now when we in the more northern parts of the Northern Hemisphere are frozen solid or nearly so.
I agree that defining "proper" doesn't work at all, not just because of SFG methods varying so much but because of regional soil, climate, other variants as well. (Physical and financial ability, to name a few.)
Planning and timing both are huge topics anyway (great for a rambling discussion!) Includes how to build beds (something I'm going to have to do again this year), mixing the mix, actual layout, supporting systems (irrigation, etc), selecting plants to grow, finding seed vendors/trading partners, starting seeds indoors and outdoors and so forth. Yay spring!!!

Haha! The topic is just a starter anyway. Once us gardeners get going the conversation takes off - so many gardening things to discuss, so little time.

I can only imagine the topic never ends where it started, either.
Timing would be great right about now, too, because so many of us are either starting indoors or getting ready to. We could go into hoop houses, row covers, "buying yourself zones", soil warming, indoor setups, etc.... The list just goes on forever.

Y'all should feel free to hop on over to the chatroom and have a go at it. There is a link at the top of this page on the navigation bar. It will open up a separate window and all you have to do is log in and start chatting!

Howdy Folks:
In the past someone would announce a CHAT to be held on such and such a date and time. All who could join at that time would do so. Most CHATS were informal with no theme and some were informal with a theme - such as strawberries. There have also been formal hosted CHATS with a member of the SFG Foundation answering questions from the CHATers. If you guys and gals would like a CHAT session go ahead and take the bull by the horns and announce one a few days in advance and see who shows up.
God Bless, Ward and Mary.
