Feels like it's Spring again!

LOL, ok, except for the 90 degree temps that are still hanging around! But it's just so nice to have things growing in my garden again after a long, hot summer during which I killed everything.

I harvested the first of my bush beans last night and threw them in with a store bought frozen stirfry (there were just a handful ready). Today I harvested my first crookneck squash. I need to get out there and take pictures soon, but right now everything is muddy from letting the kiddos play in the wading pool and they are clean again, so I don't want to go out and start the cycle all over again, kwim?

The first of my Poona Kheera is about 4 inches long and there are many more just starting out. I planted 2 in one square and have already had to move the tomato that was next to it and will leave the square on the other side empty as the Poona Kheera is already claiming the trellis on both sides and today I found it wound around one of my bush beans!

My replanted sugar snap peas are coming up much better than the first planting...but it also looks like I'm going to have to replant the second set of squares I planted...they aren't coming up any better than the first planting. Just not having much luck getting peas to come up (maybe too hot?). Thinking I might try the paper towel in a ziploc method. Anyone have experience with that?

My Brandywine toms that I started from seed are still struggling a bit since being moved out into the garden, but I'm pretty sure they'll recover...not dying, just not thriving. My largest sucker tom (taken from spring plants) is growing like gangbusters right now and putting on new tomatoes every day. The largest look like they'll be full size by this weekend. I think they were a Juliet Roma(?) and they don't get very big but there are a ton of them.

Wonderberries are well-established in their inground spot. None of the flowers I planted around them have come up.

Broccoli and Cauliflower have come up! I wasn't sure they would in this heat. I'm really happy about that as all my indoor seed starting attempts failed with them.

Still need to start planting lettuce, but I've been hoping to at least get down to our normal 85 degrees instead of 90. I have one square of Black Seeded Simpson, though, and it seems to be doing fine in the heat, so I'll probably plant a couple of squares early next week.

We're going to South Padre Island for the weekend (DH has a faculty retreat there and everyone brings their families). So excited as the forecast is for a perfect (IMO) 83/73 high/low and no rain. Last year it was cooler, rained, and I had a 6 week old I have higher hopes for this year!

I wish it was spring!

I know camprn...I am really heartsick for my garden. I already miss it very much. There is only so much "planning" you can do before you just plain 'ole miss it.
