Does anyone have some advice on pepper varieties. I would love a decent sweet pepper that wasn't so thin-walled as to barely qualify as there. I have grown California Wonder a few times. This year I grew a few plants in different boxes and at different planting times and all are the same - thin skinned and small. Any ideas?

I was very pleased with the Poblano and the Lip Stick pimentos we grew this year.

I stick with the "Bonnie's Bell" varieties & have good luck with the red, green & yellow bell varieties.

I only do transplants though ...no help on the seeds

California Wonders are a standard sweet pepper for me, I love the flavor of them. However, mine do have nice thick walls. I gave them monthly doses of fish emulsion and kept them well watered. We also mulched with straw. Once the peppers (any kind) start coming on, it is essential to keep the plants well watered. It's mostly the water that gives them the nice thick walls.

We also grew some red bells (Red Beauty), which are supposed to turn red early, but I had red California Wonders first. Also have jalapenos and Anaheims. Jalapenos seem non-stop, but I've only gotten 6 Anaheims. I may try poblanos next year.

That is interesting. My peppers get plenty of water - it is automated even. LOL. And I use fish emulsion and epsom salts regularly. There may have been some shading involved.

I am definitely going online right now to study them and as God is my witness, I WILL GROW A THICK-WALLED PEPPER!
