I hope so too. I am really tempted by an offer I saw on Vreeker's seeds.

You could order a sort of suprise package with 9 different types of strawberry plants in it. And the company would select a few that would give verry good strawberries (based on size, or amount, or how well they survive) and a few that they don't sell on the market jet. I think this is very interesting because they sell a lot of types that most people have forgotten about. And they claim that they all have a different taste. So it would be very interesting for somekinde of science project. You could try to see wich one you like the most and suites you the best.

Fortunatly I have still some time to think about this.

Megan, I'm thinking about getting a strawberry jar. Do you fill the entire jar with MM before planting?

I have a bed of June bearers, but I'd like some to have throughout the summer to add to salads. Do the wild berries produce all summer? What variety do you recommend?

Ander, I did fill it with MM prior to planting. Over the course of the year, though, it has settled significantly (plus there was some water erosion out of the pockets) and it needs to be topped off. I think if I had to do it again, I would fill it with a little mix, tamp it down REALLY good, fill a little more, tamp, fill, tamp, etc.

My yellow berries matured at the end of the summer and were still blooming when the 2nd or 3rd hard frost put them to sleep. I don't know if that means they bear all year or not.

I'm a little worried as to whether they will live through the winter. I really should do something to protect that jar. Bring it inside, maybe, but I don't have a good place to put it.
