New to SFG

I just found this forum and have been enjoying reading the posts.
I have multiple sclerosis. This makes it impossible for me to have a "normal" garden. I used to have two that were 20ft x 20ft. I missed it very much.
I had heard of SFG. I did some research and I got started. My husband made me one bed to start with to see if I could handle it. I also have one tomato. He also set me up a rain barrel so that I would not have to lug water!
This is the total set up so far.

I made several of these little cages. I use them as I replant squares.

Tomato in August

Main bed in August. Green beans, cucumbers, squash, nasteriums, and marigolds still going strong. Onions, carrots, lettuce, radishes, broccoli were awesome! I am going to plant more lettuce and radishes this week. Also hubby is putting pvc hoops on the bed to extend the season.

I tried a topsy turvy tomato. It was good. I planted with marijoram and cherry tomato
I left it like this for about 3 weeks to give roots a chance.

I hung it from a northwest corner of my deck. I think it got too much sun and heat so I will put it somewere else next year.

Hubby is waiting for his acorn squash to get bigger!

My husband made this caboose garden tool box. He has a garden railroad so of course it had to be a train theme! It will be put on posts next month.

This is my little orchard I started this year. Dwarf trees, apricot, nectarine, cherry, apricot, red apple, yellow apple. My daughter named it the "Pick-a-Little Orchard." I haven't taken a picture of it lately. It is growing great!


I love the gardening! It feels so great to be able to garden again.
I am adding two boxes and another tomato next month to be ready for next year.

It is a very versatile system. Are you familiar with table top square foot gardens? They are raised raised beds. Several forum members have them and I wish I was handy enough myself to build one.This link has a good explanation and some pictures. Just FYI.
