New Amish Boxes are here.
As many of you know, we at the foundation are always looking for ways to help the community. We could be producing our merchandise from large manufacturing plants at huge discounts and making a killing, but that is not what the foundation is about.
We read recently how the Amish were struggling in this economy. Their woodworking capabilities are legendary so we contacted a group and asked if they could make our boxes for us. They were very excited about making them and they have come up with a beautiful box. Not only that, but these new boxes are using our new totally Tool-less designs. No more screws or screwdrivers!. These beautiful boxes come in Red and White cedar and are available now from our storefront. Take a look at them HERE and HERE

Well, you got to admire these boxes. Very high standard craftmanship.

What a great idea! This is yet one more reason why I appreciate what you guys (at the SFGF) are doing.

Something else you guys may not know, our DVD's are produced by local people who need jobs and we package them at a facility called Enable Industries. They give jobs to handicapped people who can't work in the regular job market.
Something else we are really excited about is this: We are going to have a new box coming out in the next month or two that is made from the waste product that walmart produces. Instead of sending it to the dump, we are getting this waste and molding 100% recycled plastic boxes from it. We are always looking for ways to help the environment!

Alan and forum Folks:
I have been busy the last few days building Table Top SFG's 10 inches deep from used and "found material" Considering my other costs, screws, weed barrier (from the Foundation) and hardware cloth I figure my cost to be about $25 per box. Including my time invested an Amish built cedar box at $60.00 is a steal! What a wonderful addition to the SFG Store.
God Bless, Ward.

Re: New Amish Boxes are here.
Not only are we always striving to make excellent products, but at the same time, help the community and the environment. That costs us money, since paying a local shop to do work for us is typically more expensive than hiring a massive manufacturer to do it all. On top of that , our prices are almost unbeatable! I don't know when the last time you guys looked up raised bed garden boxes, but for the same price we sell ours, other companies sell their for 2x or even 3x the cost! We want to make sure you all know where our priorities are. we really are focused on ending world hunger and helping people become self sufficient!

Actually, it's General now. I think he even has a couple of stars. He got promoted some time ago, along with Col. Samantha Carter.
Gotta love Stargate:SG1, :SGA, :SGU.... lol.... I'm a Stargate fanatic and an SFG'er.. go figure. Don't suppose there are any Cylons into SFG as well? Or how about some Galifreyans? I'm a Geek, several times over.
I think it's great that the Amish are producing those boxes. I wish I could afford them.. but, suffering from the economy myself, I have to build my own stuff. Still..it is beautiful craftsmanship.
My wife is originally from Wilkes-Barre, PA, and she's told me stories about Amish 'restaurants' that serve food "family style." Perhaps one of these years I'll get to see what she was talking about.

Re: New Amish Boxes are here.
My local Lowes is charging $79-89 bucks for a wooden square raised bed garden kit. This Amish kit looks a whole lot better and I imagine would last longer as well since it is made out of cedar.
Wish I could afford one myself, they look really nice. These Amish ones even include the grid, unlike the Lowes kits!

Thank you for your support. Remember that this purchase not only supports the foundation in our humanitarian projects(we are really not in it for the money as price shopping will tell you!) , but it also supports the amish community as well! Re: New Amish Boxes are here.
Not to mention that for some reason the Old School Amish way of building things seems to last for decades so there is definatly quality in the craftsmanship.
ever watch an Amish barn rasing? Ive been to Pennsylvania Dutch country and watched them build a barn granted it takes them a bit longer then it does us (bloody english lol) but they use all hand tools and almost no nails everything is put together slot and groove tongue and groove or slot and peg and the structure is sound and solid when they are done just goes to show that sometimes the old ways are the best ways.
