I didnt realize this site (www.wegrowgarlic.com) let you buy it by the BULB....thats great! Makes it affordable for me. YAY! Just ordered 10 dollars worth and got 5 different kinds. GREAT! Just what I needed.

I got my a confirmation email the day after I placed my order & they said they would invoice me when they got the order together.

Gotta say I think $8.10 for shipping when my garlic order only totaled 9.50 is a little ridiculous. I'm going to place my order anyway...but definetly will explore other avenues in the future. It annoys me there was no mention of what the shipping fees would be BEFORE I hit the CONFIRM ORDER button.

I did get the PayPal notice today and I too was taken aback by the postage! Mine was $7.50 for a $12.40 order, which isn't as bad as yours, middlemamma, and you're closer to Wisconsin than I am!

Middlemama, I think I would question them about your shipping. MIne was 7.50 for an $18.35 order.

OK, I just went online to check other companies' shipping charges, maybe the charges aren't out of line after all, but still pretty high. Shipping is pretty high anyway - I mailed a necklace out today & it was $3.50 with insurance & it didn't weigh much at all.

A true easterner, no doubt! --it's just a couple states away....

Idaho is probably twice as far from Wisconsin as West Virginia

Any of the stuff that we are currently growing should do fine in Michigan, the only ones I'd say to stay away from right now are the Creoles, we are still testing them to see how they will do in Wisconsin. They say Creoles prefer a warmer climate but we're trying them anyway. So far they're doing okay but it's still too soon to say for sure that they do okay in a cold climate.

We use the USPS Priority Mail shipping calculator, our origin zip is 53911. You can figure your weight estimate this way - 1.5" bulbs are 10 to a pound, 2" bulbs are 8, 2.5" are 5, and 3" are 4. Add about 8 oz for the box and packing materials. We also use the flat rate boxes when they are a more economical choice than the price would be by weight. Generally, orders up to about $120 or so will fit into a large flat rate box. Here's the shipping calculator link: http://postcalc.usps.gov/ be sure to use the Priority Mail rates. Also, once a box is over about 30 lbs we check the UPS rates as UPS is generally less expensive than the mail for the larger orders. Hope that helps.
