What can I plant now?
i live in central Florida zone 9b. Its been super hot this year.
My tomatoes are fnished, my green beans have stopped producing
we have harvested the beets, radishes, squash, cukes, which are also
slowing down- eggplants and peppers are producing like crazy tho.
Now I have empty boxes - what can I plant now that can withstand the
heat? I sure could use some suggestions

Re: What can I plant now?
Okra, summer squash, bush beans (the weather will have cooled down by the time they bloom), possibly pole beans, tomatoes (direct seed)--wait until Aug 15-Sept. 1 if transplants. Or let the squares sit fallow and plant all kinds of winter veggies come October-November. Here's a good planting chart for Texas, but will work well for Florida as well. You are in region 5: http://aggie-horticulture.tamu.edu/archives/parsons/fallgarden/falldirect.html

Re: What can I plant now?
I'm not sure what you're average temps are for July, but your could try okra or peanuts since they like and can take the heat.
Check these two sites out:

This blog is from someone in your area, perhaps you could get some ideas from it:

Hopefully some other SFG'ers here from your region will throw in their suggestions too!
