beans and heat

OK. So I planted wax beans, lima beans and pole beans. everyone germinated and were super happy. The deer were in awe, broke into my garden and ate everything down to stalks (plants were still young, and only a few were just starting to flower at that point). I thought all was lost, but they bounced back. Got lovely healthy looking plants now, and have done so for a few weeks. Loads of flowers, but hello - no one is turning into beans. is this because the deer stressed the plants too much, or because it is stinking hot here lately and no rain for weeks (I am watering most days) or perhaps something else? Plants look wonderful in every other regard (oh, except the japanese beetles liked my pole bean beans and heat Icon_sad

)

Any thoughts would be appreciated

Beans tend not to set in hot weather. Mine were at a standstill until last week of cloudy rainy weather. They have all set a fair amount but will now be taking time off again. The pole beans will perk up again in early fall and I should get a good crop. The bush beans I will replant in a couple of weeks.

That is great news in its own way, belfrybat, thank you. I feel a lot better now with some hope for cooler weather. My pole beans and pole limas have been flowering for a while, but I have only got one lonely, immature lima pod so far, out of (I'm guessing) hundreds of flowers. I've tagged it....if it matures, I will save it for seed this fall!
