This is the first one of these I've seen. Luckily he stayed around for a while when I went and grabbed my phone to take a pic and they were not coming out good so I had to grab my big camera to take good pics

Yes it is! An evil squash vine borer!

They are pretty moths, members of the clearwing moth family along with hummingbird moths. But unfortunately they target squash as food for their caterpillars, the actual squash vine borers.
