iPod app
I hadn't seen anything written yet about the new ipod app so I thought I'd throw the topic out there.
I LOVE it! Maybe it's because I'm a SFG newbie, but, I really like the info it provides.
I absolutely love the way you tell it when you planted something, whether you planted seed or seedling and then it gives you the approximate harvest date! How cool is that?

Re: iPod app
I really want this app. Unfortunately, I do not have an "i" anything. I'm hoping to get my Mother's old iPod Touch as she just bought an iPad. If she gives it to me, you can bet I'll be downloading the SFG app!

Re: iPod app
I didn't realize from the SFG website that the actually runs on the IPod Touch. I don't want a IPhone or an IPad but I might have finally found a reason (read that excuse) to buy an IPod touch. Hmmm.....
Re: iPod app
It actually doesn't mention the iPod Touch. But all an iPod Touch is is an iPhone without the phone. It does all the same things an iPhone does except make phone calls. Anything that runs on an iPhone, can also run on an iPod Touch. Hope that helps!

Re: iPod app
I have an iPod Touch and it works great.
I don't know about the 2x2 limitation because I broke down and paid the $1.99. I mean, hey, I shelled out enough for the Mels Mix, what's another buck ninety nine

Re: iPod app
Here's another thread on it. https://squarefoot.forumotion.com/sfg-foundation-f32/new-iphone-ipad-app-for-sfg-t2252.htm
I really enjoy this app. Last year I tried so hard to be organized but it was too much work and losing papers and not having the excel spreadsheet in the garden, $1.99 is totallly worth it. Heck I paid more than that for games and other stupid apps.
I like it that when I get antsy and think stuff isn't ever going to grow, I can check the app and know how long till supposed harvest.

Re: iPod app
I would just caution everyone to be careful with your expensive iPhones/iPads/iPods out in the garden. One drop of water in the headphone jack or docking port can void your warranty. There are little water sensors in those locations that turn pink when exposed to water and a pink water sensor immediately voids your warranty. I do take my iPhone out to take quick snapshots of the garden but other than that I leave it safely inside the house.
Re: iPod app
Yes, and that's a shame, because water sensors on other phones are "buried" better into the interior. My warranty is long-expired (my 3G is about 2 years old) and has gotten a little damp from rain/water/perspiration numerous times, so I'm sure I've tripped those sensors. Still works fine though. (I would NOT take it out in a downpour, of course!)
Re: iPod app
I am hoping that the Android phones, I have an Xperia, will get a square foot gardening app for the Android Market.

It is a shame. On other phones the sensor is behind the battery, but with Apple you get devices with no user removable battery, so they put sensors in easy to see locations. There are also 2 sensors inside the phone, but those are not as easily checked. Interestingly when my first iPhone went for an unfortunate swim, I took it apart to assist drying & only 1 of the 2 internal sensors had tripped. The phone was kaput & I replaced it, and now I am VERY careful about liquids around my phone.
Re: iPod app
Can't blame you for that. Hubby has an otterbox for his. (FYI: The otterbox clip is very unreliable, at least on his and a friend's model. Can drop your phone without your realizing it!)
I'm waiting for all the hoo-ha about the new iPhone 4 to die down before I get one. I have to admit I want to be able to shoot video in my SFG!
