My boxes have plywood bottoms. The problem is that I'm having a hard time figuring out how to anchor my supports in the boxes.

Example: I'm using Ultomato cages for all my maters and they keep falling over because I don't know how to anchor them down.

I am in desperate need of a cucumber trellis ... like yesterday .... but I'm going to have the same problem. No way to anchor it that I can figure out.

Any ideas? Hopefully something that is really obvious that I'm just missing. Please?????

You might have to get creative with 1x2s and make support/trellises for your trellises! The 1x2 supports in this pic are used to make plastic pup tents. Depending on the size and location, you could use something similar to support your trellises.

Thanks for the pic.

The other problem I have is that critters got into my boxes a while ago and my seeds got moved around. So I have 2 cucumber plants and they are going in random places - in 2 boxes that are diagonal to each other.

I think I will make a trellis out of PVC and put maybe 1 piece of PVC in the middle of the trellis. I also may be able to attach them somehow to the outside of my boxes.

But I also have to somehow keep bird netting or a chicken wire cage over them!!!!!

Sherry, what are your boxes resting on -- ground, pavement?
