In Mel's book it shows how to make neat covers for the 4x4 gardens. I made one last fall for our first ever SFG and it performed superbly. However.... at the sight of TWO woodchucks this spring coupled with the thought of having to make the critter cages much taller to accomodate our plants, I decided to fence the entire area. Now, I am thinking that we will need to expand our gardens. two 4x4 just isn't going to be enough! has anyone else fenced in their garden area? What did you use? How has it performed? I used chicken wire buried to a depth of about a foot and it is about 7 feet tall. Should keep most critters out I would think! Looking for other ideas before I expand though in case there is a better/more efficient/cheaper way to go. Thanks!

I know there are many gardeners that have fenced in their area, check the showcase forum. Some used fence post/u-post and fencing, some used that white plastic, some cattle panels. It all looks nice to me Smile

I'm a big proponent of table top sfg boxes. They eliminate problems with slugs, moles, voles, rabbits, dogs, and raccoons. However, they are the perfect height for dining deer! I don't know if a groundhog would jump/climb into one. Maybe CP knows-she's got a few that she's named! Wink

You know Boff, IDK if they'll climb, since we have a opossum, skunk, squirrels, and foxes, If I were to ever get damage in my TT I wouldn't know what it was without sticking out a camera.

BUT since the last groundhog catch... havent seen any more Fencing Icon_twisted
