Squash issues
Hi everyone! I have another problem/question. I'm having problems with my squash. It's not really a bad problem, but it makes me worry.
Last year, when I tried to grow squash, on some of the plants, the vine split and cracked, and looked something like a hotdog bun. It was near the base, and ran up a good three to five inches.
This year, I've noticed that my squash are starting to look the same way. Last year, I didn't see any bugs or any decay where the vine split open. It was just like the way berries or tomatoes split when they get too big, but it hurt the plant none the less.
I have no idea what this problem could be. I actually noticed it on my cucumbers as well. Is there a pest involved?

Re: Squash issues
squash vine borer? do an image search on google and see what you think. (I hope I am wrong - and I have no ego, so please let me know that it is something harmless.)
