nematodes
Doing gardening in 2 4X8' boxes. One has flowers for my wife, one is for me to plant vegetables. Had a great crop this year, but at the end of the summer season, pulled out the final pole beams and tomatoes and peppers and they had large nodules on the roots. First year this has happened. I used bagged compost and some fertilizer. Is this nematodes? I saw this many years ago in vineyards in central California and it was very bad. Any suggestions on how I can rid of them?
Thanks,

Re: nematodes
Those look more like the nitrogen-fixing bacteria nodules than root nematode galls. They are easy to tell apart: The nitrogen nodules can easily be rubbed off the roots, while the root nematode galls are part of the root and cannot be rubbed off; and a thumbnail can easily be pressed into a nitrogen-fixing bacterial gall, but not into a root knot gall.
