TT SFG W/Trellis
Something that I plan on building. I believe that I can build the Trellis ends and the SFG bed, but I will need help erecting it. BTW, are the rest of you having the same lumber cost nightmares. Latest check showed 1x12 at $9.63/Ft! in the Seattle area. WOW/OUCH!
I will set the SFG bed at a height allowing access from my wheelchair.
Materials:
Two matching extension ladders.
Two 6’ 2x12 attached to ladder by 'U'- bolts (2 each end)
Two 8’ 2x12, bolted to 6' 2x12 each end)
3x8 SFG, various materials, depth to suit
Sets on top of 8' 2x12

So ladders are now cheaper than lumber?
Apparently thanks to Covid a lot of people are finally getting around to doing those home projects, which means a run on lumber.
What software are you using for your diagram? Can you "lift" the bed into place to verify that it will fit under the ladders?
First they came for our toilet paper, but we had enough. Then they came for our disinfectant, but we could buy it online. Then they came for our yeast, and so we made sourdough. Then they came for our lumber, and it was too late because all the trees had been taken to make toilet paper.

Looks like a great idea, however I would question the security in this design. you will have a mix weighing enough by itself. Rain will saturate it making ladders susceptible to collapse...then also, heavy summer thunderstorms could possibly blow the entire unit down...You might wish to consider cement footers that hold 4 x 4s in an upright secure .position. Laddrers are not secure enough for this type of work.

Re: TT SFG W/Trellis
What Jimmy said.
I mean, it's a very cool idea, just not sure about the safety aspect. Also remember that the boards are going to be stiffer if they are placed on their edges vs. flat. Flat will sag.
I think if it were me, I'd stack some cinder blocks to hold up the TT to the right height and you can still use the ladders as a trellis if you like?
