Re: texas worm ranch classes
Heather sent out a recent email that I thought was informative, esp for those who live outside the urban area.
Good Afternoon,
Thank you for registering for our Fall Gardening class. Whether you were a "live" participant or you are catching up on your own time, I appreciate you for your ambition to grow food! The questions you asked were great.
One thing I forgot to mention about pest control: If you establish the type of living ecosystem that we discussed today, you will start to attract all kinds of pest control critters to that habitat--wasps, assassin bugs, ladybugs, praying mantis, lizards, toads, insect eating birds, etc. A bare dirt, tilled, and chemical treated space will never have that ecosystem to attract your beneficial helpers. Now, urban "wildlife" like rats and squirrels need a caged garden to keep out of your space (and from eating every last morsel you grow). We need to have more tolerance of urban predators (hawks, owls, snakes, bobcats, foxes, coyotes, etc.) to manage those, but prevention like securely caged gardens might have to be a serious consideration.

Re: texas worm ranch classes
I enjoyed both classes I selected, fall Texas gardening and soil biology for vegetable gardening. They were about 2 hour long, but well worth it. I encourage others to look at them. she has them recorded for later viewing.

Re: texas worm ranch classes
For those who are worm composting, Heather at Texas worm ranch is doing another class. Here's the info. I enjoyed the two classes I attended. Learned quite a bit of new info.I don't know how to remove the black background when I copy and past it. My Facebook has a dark background and haven't took time to figure out how to change it back to a white background. The link is a live. 'm posting a picture too.
