Hi, maybe it's just me, but I can't see the picture.
Sanderson? OG? Can someone look at the code?
Also, are you on the web version or the mobile one?

Unfortunately, the code provided is not a web link, so there isn't much that can be done with it.

Re: new eastern redbud looks like it might need attention
Hey, I can see the pictures now!
I dont know enough about that plant per se, but it doesn't look diseased, just either eaten or physically damaged. You said it was underwatered. Is it looking any better now?

Re: new eastern redbud looks like it might need attention
Hi Bev, welcome!
My avatar is currently my redbud tree. I think this tree is just shocked and had some damage. Needs some TLC; water, maybe a Jobe’s Tree Food Spike at the drip line (but don’t go crazy with them, these trees are basically native and fine—could skip altogether). Would like to see a pic of the tree entirely....
I think she will be fine!

Re: new eastern redbud looks like it might need attention
The Eastern Redbud is a native tree in Ohio, and grows abundantly in the edges of woods. We have several of them in our yard that came up on their own, and I just made sure not to mow them off. It is an understory tree, and prefers at least partial shade. I have one growing in full sun, and it is doing fairly well. But, the one in full sun has never as fully developed as the ones that are growing in shade.
Here is a USDA fact sheet on the Eastern Redbud: https://plants.usda.gov/factsheet/pdf/fs_ceca4.pdf

re: pretty
I love the eastern Redbud! one of the least offensive trees i know. they are beautiful in spring with
brilliant color and when the color 'drops' it is gone without fuss in a few days. when the leaves drop in late fall
they just seems to go away! I have had very little yard care from one of these in my front yard. I had just never seen leaves like this on my other tree.

The flowers also make great Redbud Jelly!
