Broadbeans how many per square foot?

I am going to plant broadens but have no idea how many to plant per square foot. I am thinking 9? anyone can tell me please?

I have been planting mine as one plant every 9 inches apart usually in a block of 8 to 10 plants at a time .
. So when they are tall I can run a couple of soft tie down straps round them to stop them falling over , putting a long stake of wood at each corner of the block & winding the tape round the stakes.

This gives me enough beans 4 lb approx for my wife & I for a year as fresh & deep frozen , plus 15 pot to one side to dry for next years seeds

In spring watch out for slugs eating tender baby just broken through plants , grow them in 4 inch pots instead till they are 5 inches hight & plant out at that size
