Re: TD - A Journey Through Prostate Cancer
Nice job, but I like your water colors better. Somehow, they seem more soothing and inspiring. Maybe it's the dream-like quality that goes with the water colors. I just seem to be drawn in, not outside looking in. I know, I know -- everybody's a critic.
Which is more fun for you?

That worked well, TD. Did you think of this yourself?
I think this emoticon is a thumbs up and not a knife and fork. I must get my glasses on.

Re: TD - A Journey Through Prostate Cancer
For your next assignment, why not lift the hood, open the trunk, roll down the windows, and plant it full of Mrs. TD's favorite flowers?
(Water color Mel's Mix should be very affordable. )

That painting is based on a photo I took one summer at a cottage we rented.

I think that's my favorite one you've showed us. So serene.

You and your wife certainly have talent, TD.
I am also self-isolating, as much as I can. Can;t wait to get out into the garden.
My poor brother in England has to say inside for up to four months. This seems to have put a spike in my own plans.

YIKES! We are definitely living through a moment in history that will be on many tests for future generations. Fingers crossed that it turns out to be just a minor inconvenience to your future plans. Right now I feel like I'm holding my breath for the whole world.Kelejan wrote:You and your wife certainly have talent, TD.

TD, just dropping in on this topic, and I can see that you have not lost your eye for beauty despite all the ugly things happening around this orb we call home. Art in any form you choose can preserve the minds sense of order and helps center us. I love to just let a painting like yours wash over me and calm my overactive mind; it helps me feel at peace. Thank you so much for sharing this with us.

Re: TD - A Journey Through Prostate Cancer
Thanks for all the kind comments.
I have the subjects for more paintings in mind. They will (may) be based on some photos we took while visiting the beautiful Gaspé Peninsula of Quebec, in particular the town of Percé, a few years ago.
Here is a video someone took of Percé.

Re: TD - A Journey Through Prostate Cancer
I just completed this very quick study of Percé Rock in Quebec. It's done on a 6"x9" piece of thin multi media paper rather than watercolour paper. I used a cheap set of old well (not tube) watercolour paints. It's supposed to be a foggy scene. I will redo it with better paper and paints. A stock photo of Perce Rock in bright sunlight is shown below the painting.

Re: TD - A Journey Through Prostate Cancer
The foggy look and foreground, in my opinion, are enhancements. But then again, I had only a two-week course in art history as a senior in high school. That was part of a class called "World History and Philosophy." Among other things, we learned to make "apple" pies with soda crackers. We also read Shakespeare. I still revere that teacher!
