Skinny Cucumbers?

I know very little about gardening and when I bought these cucumber seeds, I knew even less.  I had no idea that the type of cucumber mattered at all.  As a result, I simply picked the ones with the best looking packaging.  I shoved a few seeds in two of my brand new SFG squares and I guess I threw the packaging away. (Not 100% on that, but I can't find it) So, other than assuming it's a bush variety based on looks, that about all I know about what I have.  To my surprise, they are doing very well. 

They are beginning to produce cucumbers. I have been hand pollinating as a supplement as I'm not seeing very many bees or butterflies.  The cukes are a little over 5", but are really skinny.

Since I don't know what variety I have, I don't know how big they should get before I pick them.  Do you guys think they will fill out?  Do juvenile cukes look this way normally or do I have a deficiency? Meaning my plant. I already know I do! Anyone have a tip or trick to determine the best time to pick them?
There are prickly things on the skin.  I posted pics of the plant too, in hopes that maybe an expert can help me either identify or narrow down what variety I have.   Thanks in advance for your help!

Brian, if that dust on your leaves is Sevin, that might be why you don't have adequate pollination.  It kills all bugs, good and bad.  So your pollinators might be absent. (Dead)  To me, they look inadequately pollinated.  Not sure, but look like a traditional pickler to me, maybe a Straight Eight.  Many pickling types are spiny.  

The eating types are thinner skinned, spineless (lol) and sweeter.  Let it go a while and see what it does.

Yes.  That is seven dust.  The temperature here has cooled about 10 degrees in the past couple weeks and I have noticed less bugs ect. As a result. Tomorrow morning, do you think I should give the plants a good misting to rinse the dust off the leaves?

I would get rid of the Sevin, but you will have more pests.  There are many ways to deal with them that don't harm your beneficials.  Cukes really need good pollination or they get strange looking.  

I have successfully used the soap made with peppermint liquid soap, cayenne pepper, etc. on this site somewhere...under pest section.  Save a squirty bottle from your dish detergent and make some up.  Use the Search box in upper left hand corner for other tips.  

It's a trade off.

Lots of ideas

My skinny cucumber is starting to fill out some.  Is this one ready to pick ?  It's about 7" long. (for perspective) I would like to let it fill out a little more, but I don't want it to get bitter or leave it in so long the plant shuts down. 

Time to pick this yet?

I wasn't seeing any pollinators , so per scorpio's suggestion, I misted my plants yesterday morning.  I got the large majority of the Sevin dust off.  WOULDN'T YOU KNOW IT, Look what showed up this morning!
