Hi Fellow Sufferers,

I've tried all the natural methods to get rid of the &$#@ Japanese Beetles. Now I'm ready to go to Lowes and get a lawn spray that actually works. I want to eliminate them once and for all. Any suggestions.

Honestly, if you live in town, there is just no way.  I have paid for years for the grub control extra lawn treatment, it made no difference....still they came.  Because my neighbors did not.

Stopped that 3 years ago because it is so. Freaking toxic!!!!!!  And futile

Now, I plant purple pole beans which are way more resistant to them.  Also I use the Insecticidal soap on here and you just have to be ON IT.

Peppermint soap, and other noxious stuff,,,,,it works.  Takes diligence.  Takes.  Diligence.  Yes.

All I wanted to do is plant some Zinnias. Apparently that's like candy to them......

Amen.
They love roses and Japanese Cherry trees too.
Seven dust or spray "works", but generally just helps reduce damage not stop it and I'm pretty sure it will kill things you don't want to kill like bees and such also, but I do get a sick sense of satisfaction seeing dead beetles all over my sidewalks after spraying.
I haven't tried it yet, but next on my list is Milky Spore.  However, I THINK that is best used after infestation in an attempt to get the grubs before they grow to beetles the following year.  I think it's more of a "break the cycle" type of application.

Yeah, they were on my zinnias, but not as bad as the beans.  They are awful.  But I did have some success with the insecticidal soap on this site.

Peppermint liquid soap, a bit of oil, right?  And cayenne, hot sauce, etc.

The grub thing won't help unless everyone in your area does it.
