Greenhouse Venting Techniques & Equipment?
I am recovering my greenhouse and remember reading a post (that I've not been able to find using the search) where someone here had vents installed on their plastic film greenhouse. I think they were perhaps peel and stick types? Does that ring a bell with anyone?
Suggestions? Things you tried and didn't work? Looking for non-powered or solar power with automatic temperature sensitive opening and closing.
We are using 6 mil greenhouse plastic on a 10' x 20' canopy structure, 8' peak and are also using greenhouse plastic zippers on each end for access. We're searching online and could use help pointing us in the right direction if you can help!

Re: Greenhouse Venting Techniques & Equipment?
I used these tools for venting:
1. automatic crawl space vent. open at 56 degrees and closes at 55 degrees.
2. the hoop bender adjustable eat tubing angle brace adapter to position the vent.
this a no worry set up.
I even used it on my low tunnels.

Haas, thanks so much for that and the pictures. Hubby's got to do the engineering and that will help a lot!

those angle brace will go in any direction, so i use it to put one rod on the top and bottom of the vent.audrey.jeanne.roberts wrote:Haas, thanks so much for that and the pictures. Hubby's got to do the engineering and that will help a lot!

Re: Greenhouse Venting Techniques & Equipment?
Audrey, the cubic foot volume of your green house is pretty big. I'm thinking you will need larger vents. ??
Re: Greenhouse Venting Techniques & Equipment?
Yeah, Sanderson, I'm not sure how I would calculate that. We get a strong prevailing wind directly into the front of the greenhouse so we would likely get a decent flow.

I have one in the front and back door. you can put them in the side wall.audrey.jeanne.roberts wrote:Yeah, Sanderson, I'm not sure how I would calculate that. We get a strong prevailing wind directly into the front of the greenhouse so we would likely get a decent flow.

Re: Greenhouse Venting Techniques & Equipment?
We're going to try a simple box fan set on a temp gauge to automatically come on when necessary. But DH says that there is NO WAY we're going to heat it in the winter! Uh-huh....
