Hello from Ann Arbor, Michigan!
I'm very happy to have found this group! I just joined today, and I want to say that I hope I'll be a good member. As a "newbie," I really don't know a lot about Square Foot Gardening,so give me some time. I'm a flower gardener on a small city lot. I have 4 years' experience. And most important, to me anyway, I love gardening! Please accept a big "Hi" from me!

smilingplum!
I'll bet your flower garden is beautiful. That's how I started...mostly perennials though. I also made and used my own compost. Four years later I got into veggies with SFG and now I'm playing with both along with some fruit trees.
This forum is loaded with info and helpful people. Have you read the book 'All New Square Foot Gardening'? If not, see if your library has it. Great winter reading and will probably get you gardening engines revving.

from way-northern California. I also raise flowers, but only if the butterflies like them (I raise those, too). We love photos here, so if you have some of your flower garden, we'd love to see them.

Hi Smilingplum. Welcome from Atlanta, GA!
Love flowers... Love photos (hint, hint)!

A very warm welcome smilingplum from trolleydriver (TD) located in a very cold (today) Ottawa, Canada.
As already mentioned by CapeCoddess (CC), it is important to read the All New Square Foot Gardening Book (ANSFG). If you have not already done so, get the Second Edition. It's a great read.
Feel free to ask questions on the forum. We are here to help. While the ANSFG is foundational to Square Foot Gardening, we also learn from each other. So join in the fun.

Re: Hello from Ann Arbor, Michigan!
SmilingPlum, Welcome to the Forum from middle California! I'm late welcoming you to the Forum but I see others have already greeted you. Yes, read either the 1st or 2nd Edition of the All New SFG book. There's a wealth of info through the Search feature. If you move the cursor to the left side there are "bumps" that open to some basic topics. (Don't be surprised if you get a nickname like Plum or SP! )
Re: Hello from Ann Arbor, Michigan!
On my computer with my browser, the bumps are no longer there. You also have to be on the home page. Just run your curser over to the left edge of the page and a list of important topics will appear. Also, try the stickies. Some of them are found heresanderson wrote:SmilingPlum, Welcome to the Forum from middle California!
