LOL. I almost posted a comment about not finding a picture about what you made with the pallet wood. The laugh was on me. Trying to get a lot of good wood out of a pallet is sometimes a challenge. Use one of those electric saws that just cut the nails rather than trying to pull the nails out. That's what we did at the pallet company I worked for.

Re: LQQK what I made.
A few weeks ago I cut some " H" section 8 inch girder up and made a letter " L" , chopped out a " Goofy gap " , 4 & 1/2 " wide in the middle then welded the other part to a 3/4 steel bar 39 inches long . I then welded on a piece of 1 & 3/4 inch scaffold pipe that I'd cut in half length wise .this was done to make a decent round fulcrum pivot point to make working it much easier . Once it was welded up I trimmed off a fair bit of excess steel that existed on the vertical that I'd welded the bar too so as to drop off a few more ounces of metal .
Suddenly we've got a fantastic pallet dismantling tool far it works better than any I've seen on the You Tube video clips and much better than the commercially available ones even though it is a trifle heavy at just over eight pounds.
The guys in the Men's Shed group I belong to fair queue up to use it , as we have a good supply of free pallets that we re purpose into all manner of things once they have been magnetically checked for nails and then planed smooth on all sides . .

Re: LQQK what I made.
I have an old pallet hanging around and there is no way I am able to remove any nails.
I thought it would be easy until I tried. :-(

I remember when you 'rolled' that pallet home.

Hey Plantoid, could you post a pic of the tool you made. I am interested in a good pallet dismantling tool.

What a memory you have, CC. I think that was a couple of years ago and I still have not converted it. I want to pull it apart and make a number of shallow boxes so that I can lay my wood chips an even depth square by square then move them to continue laying the chips. Then later I can use the squares to make shallow beds on top of the chips when they have composted a bit.CapeCoddess wrote:Kelejan wrote:I have an old pallet hanging around and there is no way I am able to remove any nails.

That pallet was a heavy one as all the boards were set close together, not open like many pallets are.
