I started my peppers from seeds indoors in early February. I then read an article about trimming my peppers before I planted them. Well, they grew twice as bushy and big and have done extremely well. I have never been able to grow peppers in my garden. I also tried a new sweet pepper this year.

I also just trimmed my son's peppers yesterday in his garden since he had many that were too tall and thin looking. He lives in West NY outside Buffalo.

I am not sure how his will turn out since trimming them late in the season. We can only hope.

Wish I would have known about this.  It's too late for me to change now but will keep this in mind for next year.

Well, my bubble burst with everything this year, although the pepper plants remaining  have some nice peppers.
I had plants with an enormous amount of small peppers and in the end these plants were removed yesterday.
I started with 32 plants and now have around 12 with some nice fruits on them.
Still, the trimming did lots of good, I will continue next season.

I was very happy that for the first time my peppers had peppers on them.  Next year I will follow your advice and prune them and plant them touching each other.

We all need a little loving touching. Very Happy

Jimmy, why did you remove 20 plants?

Plants looked great, however not a one had any peppers on it...Nights will be getting chilly soon and pepper plants will be done...I'll be seeding all my beds soon with rye. Not able to tend to them this fall..Really hurts for I had a lot of plans for fall / winter..
Just need to wait till spring.

I'm ready to take out the peppers but after the brutal summer, they are acting like kids running through a sprinkler. Lots of fruit, so I can bear to remove them. they have maybe 2 more weeks and then it's time to plant the winter seedlings.

Jimmy, You have a full plate right now. The garden can rest this winter until next spring.

bad year for peppers here this year...many plants with no blossoms or fruit...some blocky, thick-walled fruit but many small, and mis-shapen ones as well.

I probably had about 50 bell pepper plants and pulled all but 3-4 in the last week to make room for lettuce, beets, carrots, etc.

I planted one ghost pepper this year and not a single blossom so far.

Last year I grew some gorgeous peppers...thick walled, large, flat-bottomed...better then any I was seeing at the farmer's market.

That is a bummer.

I planted King of the North, Big Red and sweet banana this year and have had great success in my new 4x4.  They are from Pinetree or Bakers, and for a shorter growing season. They have been great, super greate germination.  Sturdy plants, just great.

Last yeardifferent story!  I bought a Bonnie fancy purple variety and a Sweet banana start from somewhere, got one pepper from each plant!  2 peppers last year.   IDK......maybe that was just what was supposed to happen. ?

I had great luck with King Arthur last year (They were marketed as Fat N' Sassy but the seed producers were busted for violating federal regulations/law by marketing one seed under two different names).

This year I tried King Arthur, Aristotle, and Yolo Wonder.  I've read peppers love hot days and cool nights (just like a desert environment)...so we'll see if better fruit are produced on the plants I have left over the next month and a half.

My best cukes of the year have been over the last week or so...temps are finally manageable with a bit of rain...ripped all vines out except for one Muncher and one Persian Baby Finger.

Scorpio. I tried the Bonnie purple and the chocolate variety many years ago and they only produced golf ball sized peppers. Same thing this year with my white egg plant. From now on, I'm sticking to California wonders.

Maybe there ARE peppers on your "Ghost" pepper but you just can't see them. Maybe they only appear at the stroke of midnight..... lol!    Sorry,  just couldn't pass it up.
