Re: Garlic ? what is this ?
I think they are a kind of grass. As kids we would push them up our arms so that the pointy bits kind of bumped around.
OK, I know it sounds funny but we were just kids playing.

Re: Garlic ? what is this ?
No straw, however I do have some around. Checked between the two leaves, similar but different.

I just love the plant, regardless of what it is, I find extreme beauty in it. , no color or exotic shape such as flowers.
There are some much larger plants at the shore that resemble this

Re: Garlic ? what is this ?
The seeds on these stalks may not be mature enough for drying and saving. They have to turn yellow for harvesting.
Re: Garlic ? what is this ?
It is pretty! Resembles the sea oats at the shore, I agree! Not sure how viable the seeds are, though. Can you let any of it mature and save the seeds, Jimmy?

Re: Garlic ? what is this ?
It looks like barley corn or a rye barley grass , are the tips of all the grains supporting a rough edged saw type needle point ?
IE.
As said it will go one way easily point first and be difficult to pull back through material .
Barley seed is often found in bird seed mixtures & chicken feeds ..have you been emptying the budgies cage bottom in the area ?
