Please Help Me.
Hello,
I am new at SFG and i just built my boxes yesterday. I suck at building and it took me two hours. Today i measured and apparently i used 2x5 inch boards instead of 2x6. Do I need to start over? Or what can i do to fix this? I was planning on starting the garden thursday.
Thanks so much for your help!

Personally, I really don't think you need to start over! I don't think an inch is going to make that much of a difference...

Re: Please Help Me.
You could add a decorative (or plain) 1x2 on top. if you stained the outside of your box you could use a contrasting color to make it stand out. (and look like you "meant" to do it that way!!! lol)

Re: Please Help Me.
Don't worry...2x6's are not really 6 inches wide, that is their rough dimensions before they are trimmed and finished at the sawmill.
I used 2x6's and my plants are doing fine.

Re: Please Help Me.
If you used 2x6 as labled at the store they should have been 1 1/2 X 5 1/2. This is normal and that is what most people use. I use cedar fence pickets and they work fine and are alot cheaper you just have to stake the boxes down as they are so light.

Further questions
So it will be ok that my box is only five inches deep instead of 6? It wont hurt my plants if they lose that inch to grow in?
Thanks so much for everyone's help!!! I appreciate it greately.

Re: Please Help Me.
If you are really worried, just dig down an inch into the soil underneath before you lay your weed barrior and you will add the extra inch of growing space for a total of 6.

Don't sweat it
Molly you'll have a great time. I'm using finished redwood 2x6's and yes, they are those same funny dimensions that you have. My plants are happily growing despite the nightly attack of the veggie moths. You box will be great. You can click HERE to see my boxes if you'd like.
