I'm not Suz, but I can answer that...
1. You know there is no such thing as a dumb question, especially on THIS forum
2. There is a small dongle that plugs into a USB port on the computer...that's it. Sometimes it takes a few minutes for the computer to load the drivers, but they are very much plug n play.

Does the "dongle" come with the keyboard and/or mouse?

This was the easiest install I've ever done. There were no instructions. I had to look for the "dongle." It was stuck in one of the box flaps. I stuck it in a port and in about 20 seconds I was using the keyboard and mouse. Easy-peasy. Rolling Eyes

Almost quit altogether, yesterday. Sad

Kale decimated by worms.
Peas destroyed by something that turns their leaves to lace.
Last year's BTE beds that I thought should be ready to plant are just as hard as they were the first year. No soil improvement by the wood chips. Obviously didn't use enough of them.
Killed an earthworm through neglect -- didn't keep the dirt moist in the box.

Then Katie came up with a plan. Forget the in-ground stuff. She will restore the Rescue Garden, cuz she likes containers better (so do I). I like growing from seed in Jiffy Pellets and peat pots. She likes planting from starts. I can't do all that anymore. We make a perfect team  -- I'll grow everything from seed, then hand them off to her for container planting.

I'm ready to roll! Got the Jiffy Pellets soaking for pumpkins and squash. Got a new plan for compost and planting medium. Got the sfg beds ready for radishes and onions. LIFE IS GOOD AGAIN! happy turtle  Just to seal the deal, I'm gonna go take pics of flowers.

Planted my first sfg bed of the year -- 3x3. I was about 2 weeks late. Sad  Made bamboo grids and planted 3 kinds of radishes plus turnips in the middle. Had to lay more bamboo fronds on top to keep the cats out. Gotta do something better about that. I'll post a pic when there's something to see.

The other section of that bed is 3x6. That one's a challenge, now that the deer prowl that area. Maybe we'll build a cage for it, so we can plant whatever we want.

Asparagus beans and milkweed are up in the Jiffy Pellets.

Mediterranean cukes and 3rd planting of kale are ready to go in the ground.

Several days of cool weather and rain coming, starting tonight. There's actually a possibility of snow in the mountains. Shocked

The 2 ducks have moved into the pool area. We named them Mort and Mary. Rolling Eyes

Balcony project is coming along, slowly. Still no blossoms on any of my peas. I don't get it. thinking

The only casualty of the weather is the mulberry harvest. The last storm blew off the unripe berries, and any that might be left will probably get blown off with the next storm, tomorrow. Mad

I LOVE THIS FORUM! I love you

Yesterday, I had a real scare. I couldn't get into the forum. It just wasn't there. I tried all my links, Google search, and old email links to PM. Nothing worked. That's when I realized how much I had to lose if this site went away. Sad  So, this morning, when I was able to get back on, I decided to create a "real" journal from my entries, here. I'm just getting started, but it's a real trip down memory lane that I never documented anywhere else. It could take me the rest of this year to preserve all the entries that matter to me, but it's fun and rewarding. YEE-HAH! happy turtle

Almost forgot the Painted Daisy, which have been open for a few days. Unfortunately, they have all reverted to the pink flowers over the years. There used to be various colors, including yellow, red, near white, but now they are all pink.

OG -- I wasn't gonna be outdone, so I grabbed my camera and hiked all the way to the far side of the old property to shoot the poppies in my pollinator garden. Sadly, this round of bad weather wiped them all out. Sad  The only flowers we have left over there are these:

I don't know about your area but here it's just been raining for weeks and weeks and weeks. I am at least a month and a half to two months behind. Hopefully we'll be rewarded on the other end of the season. Cross your fingers.

Exactly! I was only a couple of weeks behind to start with. The rest is all on Mother Nature. Today was nice, so Katie and I planted most of our starts, and left the rest out on the patio. Then came another gully-washer with hail, thunder and lightning (lightning struck 2 miles from here). She had to go out in the worst of it to save what she could. We'll see what's left, tomorrow. Sad

Surprised to find that we already have Monarch caterpillars in our Butterfly Garden. We normally don't start seeing them until mid-June, but glad they are here and getting the next generation ready to migrate further north.

YEE-HAH! GO, OG! smiles  We never see them until late June -- early July. Fingers crossed that the fires last year didn't mess anything up for them. So far, it's been a banner year for bugs in general and Painted Ladies, so maybe that's a good sign.

2nd round of milkweed is up. I planted out the 1st batch too soon and they all got eaten. This time, I took the little Jiffy Pellet seedlings and spaced them out on a little soil in a larger setup, so they can spread out a little without getting their roots tangled. I'm going to keep them in this container until they're at least twice this size. I can't afford to lose any more in case it's a banner year for hungry little caterpillars.

I'm so discouraged I actually considered giving up. Yesterday, I planted 11 nice big Armenian cuke starts. This morning 8 of them were dead -- cut off at the base. I guess I have cutworms now, in addition to rollies and slugs. I have now lost my entire kale crop once, my entire carrot crop for this season, my entire milkweed crop once, and now at least 80% of my Armenian cukes.

The only way I can be a successful gardener -- without resorting to poison -- will be to have an elaborate indoor growing system and start 3 months in advance, so I don't try to put anything in my Salad Bar that isn't fully established. That means placing my winter garden seed order now. Butterfly Junction - Page 26 671790

The only reason I don't give up entirely is because I love growing from seed and I have plenty of room and resources for just this kind of thing. What's breaking my heart is that I've basically worked my tail off for 3 months with nothing to show for it but a handful of tomato plants and a few romaine plants. Even my sugar snap peas failed, due to some kind of bug infestation. Sad
