ralitaco wrote:This is an odd question, but for those that use the Concrete Remesh panels, do you clean it up or paint it? The only panels I ever see are rusty...maybe I'm looking at the wrong stuff.
I've looked at the concrete reinforcing wire that is $7.00 a sheet..4 x 8 I believe.
The cattle panel at Tractor Supply is $25.00 a sheet 5ft X 16ft..
Cattle panels don't rust, whereas the reinforcing wire is all rusted up, besides the cattle panels are much stronger          ( heavier ) and well worth the extra cash

I have been using my concrete reinforcing panels for about 3 years now and did nothing to them. Yes they are rusted, but have no affect on the plants. So far, so good and Hope that helps you.

Trellis Question - Page 2 Empty Re: Trellis Question

Post  ralitaco 4/20/2016, 11:01 pm

Thanks Yolos,
I went to the store again today and verified that I was looking at the right stuff...I was and it was rusty. When I got home, I remembered I had an old roll of 3' fencing with 2"x4" openings. It is old and some of it was very rusty but since I already had it and only need some smaller sections, I decided to make my own w/ 4" openings. I cut it down to size, then clipped every other vertical wire, used my angle grinder to knock off the sharp points and used some old white spray paint. I then attached them to my tall legs and I am good to go. (I will post pictures tomorrow...as always, when I work on something, I work until it is dark)
I ended up putting in some screws at an angle for the tops of the panels to hook onto and I drilled some holes for three of the wires to go in to secure the bottom (the pictures will make that make sense, I promise)

So even though it was more work than I wanted, it didn't cost me anything but some time and I got to use some things that were gonna end up in the trash before long...so overall - a good deal!
