Safe to use Chicken manure?
I'm doing 4 boxes, and the only compost I can find is cow, chicken, and our own compost heap. On the bag of chicken compost, it says to use very little of the stuff. Like, 1 pound per 200 square feet or something. I just used 8 lbs. on one of my little 8 sq feet gardens and am worried. I know we are supposed to use a variety, so I'm wondering if any of you have used a LOT of chicken doo in your garden and still had everything turn out OK.

The main problem, as I understand it, is if the chicken manure isn't well rotted it will be way too strong for your plants. It will burn them. If you can let the bed sit awhile, then it should be OK.

Also, remember, if you're using your own compost heap that should work as your 5 different types of compost all by itself.
