Re: CALLING ON ALL MEMBERS
I have to share, thought this was funny.
I was reading some gardening books over Thanksgiving break. I was reading a section on squarefoot gardening and came across this:
"..was developed by Mel Bartholomew in 1880's."
Wow! Mel is getting up there in age
After fighting in the Civil War, Mel pursued his passion for gardening and....
O.k. it's just a little typo, I make plenty of those myself, I just got a chuckle out of it.

Re: CALLING ON ALL MEMBERS
I have one rule when gardening...gardening should be fun. At any point during a day when it stops being fun I simply shut down and go do something else. Square Foot Gardening helps with this immensely as I am not spending hours pulling weeds, tilling, etc. It's a little bit of effort and activity spread throughout the entire season either in the production of home made compost, ordering and starting seeds, nurturing transplants, direct sowing, watering, harvesting, cooking, preparing for the next season, etc.

12 down and 88 to go. I've dropped the ball on this, failing to realize that there are only 10 days left to get our testimonies in. As Kim said, a little Thank you Mel, a short paragraph, photo if you want. I'm like Santa, I know who has already shared.
Re: CALLING ON ALL MEMBERS
Having been a row gardener, AND knowing that getting out in the middle of a humid, southern summer is NOT what I want to do, finding SFG has been a dream. My pantry is full with canned & dehydrated produce from our garden & I know I can feed my family with healthy, organic foods.
Thank you, Mel, for all of your hard work & effort on the behalf of people around the world!

+1. Amen to that. I was a troybilt row gardener and a organic farmer for 3 years. Don't want to go back. Happy New year everyone.AtlantaMarie wrote:Having been a row gardener, AND knowing that getting out in the middle of a humid, southern summer is NOT what I want to do, finding SFG has been a dream.
