maggot / grub / etc in compost pile ?
I found a mess of these yesterday while transferring my piles.
They were on the lower section of a 4 foot high pile in case that's any bearing.
Resembles a larger darker meal worm
Any ideas ?

I have gotten those in the free range worm box when using fruits and veggies in building the compost pile. I put the pits with flesh in the worm box and those guys have them stripped clean in now time. Noisy and boisterous eaters.

I wouldn't get too worried about it unless it stinks or there are flies or other bothersome bugs being produced from the maggots/grub/whatever. As long as they are helping make compost, and staying in their place, and not producing pests, no biggie, IMO.
