Do cabbages regrow after harvest?
I've been lazy about pulling my spring cabbage plants after harvesting about 8 weeks ago. Despite a lack of water, they're forming new heads; they're about the size of a softball now.
Will they get fairly big? Or should I pull them, and plant cabbage seeds? At the moment, it's the only space I have for fall cabbage.

If you start the seed in trays for later transplanting, you may get the best of both worlds.

Good idea. I'm still feeling so burnt out from all the winter/spring indoor seeding that I did, that I totally forgot it as an option!

The secondary heads tend to be more loosely formed and never get as big. They are very tasty.

When taking off the first head , leave a few leaf node points on the cut stalk .
Leave the stalk in the ground , now cut an inch deep cross cut in the top of the cabbage stalk to get quick regrows .
If you have winter hardy cabbages that can hack minus 8 oC for a few days when covered in fleece , these regrows can see you having greens throughout the winter.
Celery follows similar rules .
