Hi Folks,

Getting to the point that some of my plants are doing okay and some are not. Next step seems to be testing the soil. What are your recommendations for a good Soil Testing Kit?

Thanks
Bart

Send it out to a lab for best results.

For your consideration: The conclusion by Consumer Reports on home soil tests

... our tests of six home-use soil-test kits found them returning inaccurate or inconsistent results.

The kits you buy are not very accurate, and only test for the three basic nutrients. There are many more nutrients that are impotant in growing. I highly recommend that you take a soil sample to your county extension office and let them send them off for a complete test. This costs $6 here in South Carolina, and is well worth the cost. I have a complete analysis and recommendations back by e-mail in about four days each time I do it. I usually do 3-4 tests per year, and the information is of great value. Without it, you are shooting in the dark.
