Making Peanut Butter
So it's February. Too cold to play outside, house work is boring so for the first time I tried making peanut butter. Removing the shells from two pounds of peanuts is silly work. Took me 2 hours with arthritic fingers and one bloody thumb. But after toasting the peanuts in the oven to make the oils more runny the end product is delicious. Simply whirl it around a bit in the food processor add a little bit more peanut oil that I had on hand, a little honey and stevia, tiny bit of kosher salt. Very delicious stuff. It made a quart.

Re: Making Peanut Butter
That looks great!
I made peanut butter one time in my juicer (slow, horizontal type). It was really good but waaaaaaay to time intensive and messy to repeat. We didn't save any money doing it either. So our local Winco Foods has the you-grind-it type in both almond and peanut butter and that's what we do now.

YUMMO! A quart is a lot of peanut butter. How long will it last? Or do you eat it all up first?

Re: Making Peanut Butter
It barely lasted 2 of us about 3 weeks. With the addition of a little honey it tasted like intense flavored peanut butter cookie batter. We used it in smoothies, with breakfast cereal and bananas, sometimes just grabbed a spoonful as a snack. My favorite was adding it to a pumpkin kefir smoothie. Ended up as a whole meal.
