"Lay Down" Tomatoes
Mel briefly mentions this planting technique in his book but with no pictures. I didn't understand by his description.
Any step by step pictures?

I don't know if anyone put pictures of the lay down method on this forum. I bet you'll find it on google or youtube.

Hmmm. And all this time I thought it was a technique invented by my mother 50 years ago! She always pinched the lower leaves from a potted tomato plant and laid it down in a trench, knowing the bare stem buried thus would sprout additional roots. She was (and at age 92 still is) a successful gardener, so I copy a lot of her techniques. When planting a tomato or pepper plant in a deep ornamental pot for the deck, I pinch off lower leaves and sink the dirt ball from the initial pot as deep in the ornamental pot as possible and, holding the naked stem upright, fill
