A frog in my laundry!
Just a short while ago, I decided to transfer my freshly-washed laundry into the adjacent dryer.
Lo and behold, there was a live 3"-4" frog! I put it outdoors, hoping that it survives.
How on earth....?

ROFL!!! The last few times I have mowed my lawn I have chased a toad around the lawn. It is soooo cute! I keep trying to herd it toward my boxes!

Frogs and Plumbing
In order for drains to work, there must be a vent stack in the system. You see the little pipes sticking through the roof. These pipes are plumbed into the waste system of drains and prevent water flow from being stopped.
Frogs can and do come down those vent stacks and enter the waste water system to which all fixtures that are supplied with water must have to drain the waste.
You haven't lived until you sit on a toilet and have a cold frog crawl between your legs. Oh well, at least it was only a frog and not a snake (which could also enter the waste system via vent stacks). DAMHIKT

Rabbithutch,
But how do the frogs jump onto the roof? And how did the frog survive the wash cycle?

Act like you put it in there on purpose, or people will take it as a sign of weakness.

Re: A frog in my laundry!
I had a mouse in the finished wash when we rented a house 35 years ago with the laundry hookups in the garage. RH's explanation may explain how it got into it. PS I re-washed the load. Yuck.
Re: A frog in my laundry!
Ewwwww, Sanderson!
And LOL, Donna! I'd rather have a frog than a mouse any day!
Mike (DH) found a toad the other day in the garden by the corn. Hope s/he stays...!

Re: A frog in my laundry!
I could deal with a frog or a mouse but if a rat showed up I would leave the house after I bring the cat into the house and lock the door.
I shudder every time I see one.

Re: A frog in my laundry!
The frog didn't jump onto the roof. Either he fell out of a tree he had climbed (look up 'tree frogs') or he had climbed up there looking for insects. When he started getting too warm, he looked for and found a cooler place in the vent stack. The further down the vent stack he went, the cooler the temp.donnainzone10 wrote:Rabbithutch,

As for surviving the wash, what was in it that would have killed him? Do you use toxic chemicals in your laundry? Frogs are amphibians and can survive in water. The agitation and spinning are not violent enough to harm the frog. If they were, the action would tear the washer apart.

Re: A frog in my laundry!
There's no tree nearby, so the frog must have climbed up a post or gutter pipe.
I use only S-A-8 products in my wash, which probably wouldn't kill the critter.
Thanks, RH, for the enlightening responses!
