cotton
The reason I decided to plant cotton, was that I read that every gardener should attempt to grow cotton at least once to get a sense of what it was like for the slaves to harvest (it's at a low height and the cotton is prickly, etc.). Most of the cotton I saw online was 115-130 days, so I started it indoors and then transplanted it.

Re: cotton
It's an interesting plant. I've grown it and so has Josh, here is a nice thread if you haven't already seen it --
