Zone 6, June 15 - what can I grow from seed?
Hi all, gardening newbie here. I will have my first SFG set up by June 15. Since we have a relatively short growing season up here, I am wondering what I can plant now that will have time to mature by season's end.
I am finding conflicting information on different web sites and I'm starting to feel like I have missed the window of opportunity this year. Experienced folks, please help!

Find out your average first frost date and sow anything that will mature in less time. I expect you can keep things growing at least until mid Sep which is approx 90 days from now, so try anything that matures 70 days or less. summer squash, some cukes, bush beans (pole beans take longer) chard, perpetual spinach, red russian kale (55 days). Also check out mid summer sowings of lettuce, radish, spinach, bok choy for fall harvest. Might have to start the seed inside in a/c.

Grete, Last year was my first year. I planted some things late in the season that were iffy regarding first frost. I did it because of this forum and all the neat stuff folks grow, plus I did it to see if I could actually grow them. I even had a small harvest. Kay has some good suggestions.

Great, thanks for the info walshevak and sanderson! I think I have a plan. And at the very least, I'll learn what to start early next year
