Hello from Northeast Oklahoma!
My family is just starting this adventure. We made the boxes, we have the vermiculite and the peat moss, and next we will buy the compost. We made 6 boxes, for 6 adults and 2 children..hope that's enough. lol. Any advice? Oh, and I bought a big canister or heirloom seeds online. Can't wait to get started.

lsmith62 from South Dakota! Make sure to check the compost bags before you mix anything together, as many retail composts contain peat already, so you have to adjust a bit for that. If you have any sources for composted manure from nearby farms or ranches, using those as some of your 5 sources would help to cut that down a bit. We all wish you success on this adventure and we look forward to hearing and seeing (hint, hint, - we LOVE pictures!) your progress.

Redbud Compost out of Elmore City, OK sells a decent compost product...check to see if you can buy in bulk or find it bagged for sale in your area.

compost
That's kind of far from us to get compost, a couple hours or more, so I'll look more closer to home. I can get a front end loader full of compost from the local nursery, but I know from posts that's not the best, plus they said it was a mix of compost and sand. We may just buy bags from the box stores and try to get different brands, like Black kow, and whatever else they have. I'll have to see what's available.
