Thanks CapeCoddess. This came across my Facebook a few days ago and I couldn't figure out how to grab it to post here.
I suppose with the herbs (sage, cilantro), you'd have to let them bolt to be any good for the bees. Easy enough with cilantro that's for sure. Haven't grown sage before.

Just want to add in that I saw catmint there -- but our bees and pollinating flies loved our apple mint and peppermint too. So they probably love all mints ... and mints have tons of flowers when they flower, kind of like foxgloves -- many on a stalk, and every mint plant has lots of stalks.

Marc, I found mint seeds but had to buy a spearmint plant. I just love the smell when brushed against. Wouldn't you know it, my cat loves Borage!

Spearmint is very popular. I only know it from the gum, I think.
The only ones I've grown are peppermint and apple mint. So far peppermint is my favorite. Even just picking up the containers to water them, or being close by when the wind blows, I get a jolt of their smell, and it's just so clean and pure and fantastic!
Hmm, borage is another thing I gotta get to ... so many chores and classes and things lately that I'm hardly planting a thing.

thanks for the link.....I printed out the picture of all the plants/herbs for the bees....it will make a great teaching tool for our kids we can take it with us when they go to pick out some flowers to plant in their garden spots!

I love using Borage as it is a great companion plant, attracts pollinators, and it tastes great. The blue flowers it has is also a plus.

SR, I think it is an annual everywhere. However, it seeds so you can almost consider it like a perennial as you may get lots of little seedlings the following spring. I've got a lot coming up in the front yard flower bed. I won't plant it in the beds anymore. Takes up a lot of space.

It reseeds itself to the point that I have never had to reseed my bird/bee/butterfly garden, which is now ten years old.

Milt, I just pulled 5 volunteers of borage out of one of the veggie beds. I dread how many will be sprouting like "weeds" where i don't want them.

Mint is in a pot! Here are borage volunteers in the front flower bed. A little thinning needed, you think?
