Did check the extended forecast and Iowa is supposed to be getting 40 degree weather by the 15th. Hope it warms up my cold frame soil by then.

No kidding! We were going to try a cold frame this winter, and glad we didn't. It's been TOOOO cold (-5 right now), and too much ice / snow.

Agree! 7 more inches of snow yesterday, single digit temps with a few below zero thrown in for good measure predicted and more white stuff this wkend. Not supposed to get above freezing here in the next 7 days.

Re: Go away winter.....
Jimmy, I wouldn't be so quick to say your cold frame isn't going to work. It looks like the sun rays are "heating up" the interior a bit, even through the layer of snow. The snow on top is depressed in the centers of the windows. Just wait until you can get the snow off them. They should heat up fast.
Well, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about.

I still have carrots in there from last season, last I peeked in the entire MM was frozen solid.
Sat I am going to brush the snow off and do a temp check.
Should be interesting.

Re: Go away winter.....
Might even be better with the snow on? Some of my crops under row cover survived 15 degrees when covered with snow, but died in the high 20's/low 30's without the snow insulation.
