West side of house
I've already posted photos of the west side of our house. We removed the star jasmines on the old lattices and put up new redwood lattices. I now have room for 6-8 SF for vertical growing. The rest of the dirt flower bed at the far end of the photos will be used for SFG auxiliary storage. 33 gallon rolling cans for MM, compost, and wood chip mulch, 5 gallon buckets, and leaf storage. This is what I have done so far:
Newly cleared 12-1-13:
12-9-13 Weed screen down for 3 rolling bins and bucket storage at the far end. Leaf storage in front. You can see the free wood and pipe storage on the ground.
New cage I constructed. There is a section of the green wire secured to the bottom and layered with news papers. That way we can move the cage or dump contents into another container. The Friskers is new and I wouldn't recommend it for the price and size ~ $50 for 45 gallons.. I thought it had a bottom but it doesn't. Contains dirty, wet leaves so it's good for something. Tthe new wire cage holds clean, dry leaves, PLUS the kitchen waste that filled up the side-by-side freezer!
Kitchen waste snuggled into the leaves.
The "lid" to keep flies from the kitchen waste is a bundle of clean, dry leaves wrapped in weed cloth. Not in the picture yet is the filled 60 gallon compost net bag filled with clean, dry leaves. I'll get that off the back patio into this area. Have to be careful because I don't want this tall bag, that is secured partially by a cage, to block spring seedlings in this sun-touchy area.

Re: West side of house
So fun to find new growing areas to exploit! You've done a lovely job on it, can't wait to see it filled to overflowing in the summer.

Re: West side of house
Nothing like finding a little more space to grow stuff, eh? Hope things grow well for you there.
