Mel's Mix Magic
Just two days ago I transplanted some very pathetic looking spinach and swiss chard into my "just finished" SFG bed. I moved them in the evening and was surprised that after all those weeks growing in the dirt, the roots were still mostly bound in the potting soil they were planted with. These plants had also not grown much previously and were still almost as small as when I purchased them (they were in those veggie 6-packs).
Well, anyway the morning after transplanting, I decided to move one plant forward about 1". When I lifted it from the Mel's Mix, I was surprised that its roots had already stretched out. Now only two days later, the plants have grown over an inch and are looking MUCH better. I do attribute some of the growth to the warmer weather but the plants I didn't transplant into the Mel's Mix are still just sitting there looking sad.
Guess all the digging in the Mel's Mix is going to pay off! I can't wait.

Re: Mel's Mix Magic
Shoda, you are absolutely correct. Mel's Mix is Magic! An SFG without Mel's Mix is just a box of dirt! And an SFG without a grid is no SFG at all . That's what I learned at Mel's Symposium...
