I have 4 squares for carrots and I planted 2 different varieties: Danvers Half Long and Little Fingers. 2 boxes of each.

A few days after I planted the seeds in the boxes, my dog dug through all my boxes. I had no idea if she ate anything or not. So I planted some carrot seeds inside and figure I'd wait and see what happened to the boxes outside.

The seeds are FINALLY starting to sprout in the boxes. The problem ..... the dog apparently moved everything around because the sprouts are coming up in random places in the boxes. I have no idea if they're all coming to sprout or where they will sprout.

What should I do? Wait a little while and just go with the flow? Then plant a few more sprouts from inside if they all don't come up outside?

Or somehow start from scratch and transplant all my indoor sprouts at the correct spacing and in the right boxes?

Depends. Does it look like there are very few sprouts coming up? Or are there a lot, just mostly out of place?

Maybe you could wait a bit until everything has at least sprouted, then if it looks like two or more seeds are sprouting too close to each other, you can thin appropriately. Then drop a few more seeds in the blank areas to make up for what was lost. You might get a bit of a staggered harvest, but at least you should still get most of a squares-worth of productivity.

My cats did that to me. I have turnips scattered over 3 sf instead of two and lettuce popping up everwhere in one bed. I decided just to go with the flow. Both are short season plants, so I'm still planting in the middle of them and just letting nature take it's course. I won't have quite the harvest from either turnips or lettuce in that bed I'd hoped for, but nothing in this world is perfect.
