Question for the group?  I live in New York and I still have a lot of tomatoes on my
tomato plants. Is this crop lost or will they rippen ?  Most are from the goliath
plant variety.

It depends on your weather conditions and upcoming weather, frost date, etc. as to whether you have time for them to vine ripen or not. Can't answer that for you without knowing that info but regardless it definitely doesn't have to be a lost crop. You can always have some yummy fried green tomatoes or pickled green tomatoes. hungry  If your weather is not going to allow you enough time for them to vine ripen you can always harvest them and let them ripen inside. Many have had success cutting stems off the plant and hanging the stems up in a garage/basement and letting them ripen on the stems. Or you can take clusters off and leave the clusters attached together and ripen that way on the counter or remove the individual tomatoes and ripen on the counter. Good luck and enjoy your tomatoes.

I too have a lot of green tomatoes and I have to tell you your crop will not be lost. I will let the tomatoes all stay on the vine as long as they will, but I will take them in, green and all, when the frost comes. I will bring them into the house and lay them in flat cardboard trays and they will ripen and turn red  in their own time.
