My Jive Chive
For whatever reason, maybe being overshadowed by turnip and beet leaves, my chives have been under productive. Except for this weird little plant that has grown vigorously in the garlic chive square. What is this spiky flowered plant?

Re: My Jive Chive
Hi Maria,
I'm no expert, and am not sure what other folks would call it, but. I think we'd call it a sand burr here in the south. Growing in the yard, when the spiky thing dries, it is sharp, hurts bare feet. It is the perfect weed. Destroy it!

+1 Sand spur, as I grew up calling it, or sand burr both are common names for it. Just according to where you are in the south. lollittlejo wrote:Hi Maria,

I'll try to get a better picture. I looked at images of sand spurs, but none matched, although I see the relationship. I'll tear the little freeloader out tomorrow!
